About Us

Pauline and Eric Dowker own the Rogues Lane vineyard situated on Wild Duck Creek in the southern end of Victoria’s Heathcote wine region. The Dowkers picked their first crop of Shiraz grapes in 1998.

The coat of arms on the Rogues lane label is the Dowker family crest which hangs in the church in Kendall, in the Lakes District of England. The crest was designed and created by the Reverend Dowker and was registered as a Coat of Arms in about 1770.

The name “Dowker” was given to an ancestor when he returned from war as a reward, because he was a herder of ducks and geese (“dowker” means herder of ducks and geese). The name Rogues Lane came from the address of Eric Dowker’s namesake who lives in Rogues Lane in Suffolk.
